Claiming Gold at Swiss Karate League

On June 15, Colin competed in the second of three qualification tournaments for the Swiss National Championship in November. Having already secured his spot in both Kata and Kumite back in March, his main goal this time was to earn extra ranking points.

The day began with Kata, where Colin narrowly missed out on a medal and finished 5th. After a quick break, Kumite followed—with an important change: for the first time, Colin fought in the heavyweight division (+38 kg). At just 39 kg, he was one of the lightest competitors, facing bigger and taller opponents.

Despite this challenge, Colin delivered one of his best performances yet. After strong wins in the early rounds, he advanced to the final. There, he turned a difficult start into a dominant 13–5 victory, securing gold by technical win.

While the result was outstanding, it came with tough lessons—facing much taller opponents meant taking more hits to the face than usual. Still, the win pushed Colin to the top of the national ranking table, making him one of the leading contenders for the Swiss Championship title in November.
